Regarding guidance from the Personal Information Protection Commission

The Life Data Initiative (hereinafter referred to as LDI) and NTT DATA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as NTT DATA) hereby announce that on November 2nd, they received guidance from the Personal Information Protection Commission (Article 144 of the "Act on the Protection of Personal Information" (Act No. 57 of 2003); hereinafter referred to as the "Personal Information Protection Act") in connection with the inappropriate acquisition of information in a certified project based on the Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act (hereinafter referred to as "the Incident").
Regarding this matter, we have reported it to the Cabinet Office's Health and Medical Strategy Promotion Secretariat, which is the responsible ministry for the Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act, and other relevant parties, and have been taking the necessary actions. In response, on October 7th of this year, we received a guidance document from the responsible ministry for the Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act, and on October 28th of the same year, we reported to the responsible ministry about the necessary actions we have taken.
In connection with this matter, today LDI received guidance from the Personal Information Protection Commission regarding the supervision of its contractors, and NTT Data received guidance from the Personal Information Protection Commission regarding security management measures.
Both companies take seriously the guidance they received from the relevant government ministries and agencies based on the Next Generation Medical Infrastructure Act, as well as the guidance they received from the Personal Information Protection Commission. They will thoroughly implement measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again and will make necessary reviews to ensure a safe and secure certification business.
Furthermore, in connection with this matter, we will continue to take necessary measures, including providing thorough explanations to patients, medical institutions, data users, and other related parties.
